“Anteater”, wood engraving by Mirka Hokkanen

Most printmaking requires access to a printing press but printing a wood engraving requires only the engraved block, printer’s ink and something to press with which can be as simple as a spoon or an old door knob. Mirka Hokkanen, artist, printmaker, illustrator and teacher will demonstrate the art of wood engraving at the Olney Art Association (OAA) Member Meeting on Monday, May 11th, 2026 from 6:30 to 8pm, and located at The beachKraft Gallery, 18200 Georgia Avenue, 2nd floor, Olney, MD 20832. For those with mobility challenges there is an elevator near the Jiang Court Restaurant located in the same building.
