OAA Show at The beachKraft Gallery, 18200 Georgia Ave Olney Md - 2nd floor - April 2 to April 30, 2024. Please read the attached Prospectus for instructions on how to submit your images. Artworks must be within the size limits mentioned in the Prospectus. You may enter 3 images in the format requested in the Prospectus, and pay $25, regardless of how many entries, with a maximum of 3 images.

Important dates are as follows:

Register for the event: February 16 to March 15, 2024

Drop off of accepted work at The beachKraft Gallery, 18200 GA Ave, 2nd floor, Olney, Md is on March 26th, 11am to 4:30pm

The Exhibition runs from April 2, 2024 to April 30, 2024.

Artists Reception is Saturday April 20th from 2 to 4pm at The beachKraft Gallery

Pickup date for unsold work is May 4, 2024 from 11:30am to 5pm.


Join the Olney Art Association (OAA) at Lone Oak Brewery in Olney on Saturday, May 11 for a plein air painting and charity fund raiser from 11:30-7:00 p.m. Lone Oak is one of the most popular breweries in the area. Horses from Common Ground at Paradise Stables will be on site. Artists will have the opportunity to display a work and do plein air painting. There will be a limited number of slots for registrants (capped at 25) for those wishing to display previously completed work on site that will be sold through the OAA website, only. Register by filling out the form below by April 26th. There are no fees for this event as it is part of a charity event for Common Ground. Some of their horses will be onsite for you to paint and/or visit with the help of Common Ground owners and trainers.

Sales:

All sales proceeds go to the artist.  On site volunteers will direct buyers to the OAA web site for sales of registered work.  All art must be family friendly, framed, and wired (no saw tooth hooks). Funds from registered, previously completed work will be disbursed to the artist via checks issued by OAA. Artists will be paid within thirty days of the event. Artists are responsible for paying their own sales tax.

Sales from plein air pieces created on the event day may be sold directly through the artist via Venmo, Zelle, Paypal, or Square or check.  Please be sure to bring your phone and/or your checkbook. Again, sales of plein aire pieces will be handled by the individual artists, not by OAA volunteers.

April 26th - deadline for registering already completed work to be sold

May 11 (rain date May 18) Plein aire event at Lone Oak:

Drop off and sign in:  11:30-12:00 (non-members pay $10 fee)

Painting Time:  11:30-5:30

People’s Choice Awards (recognition awards, no cash prizes, preregistered paintings only):  6:00

Painting Pick Up for Pieces Not Sold:  6:30-7:00

Mon, Nov 13, 7 - 9pm Annual OAA dinner at Sandy Spring Meeting, 17715 Meeting House Rd in Sandy Spring, MD. Dinner is in the Lyceum, the white building on the left as you enter the Meeting campus. Look for signs. Dinner will be catered by Kloby’s. Registration is now closed.

July 10 to August 14th, 2023, Annual Juried Show at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD. Juror for the exhibition will be Lisa V. Denison, speaker at our May 2023 meeting, artist and teacher at The Compass Atelier in Rockville, Md. Artists may enter up to 3 artworks for a one-time fee of $20 whether you enter one, two or three paintings.

June 1, 2023 - Registration for the Juried Show begins at 9AM.

  • a) Please send images and artwork label details about a maximum of 3 artworks to freddiweiner@gmail.com. It is very hard to work with images without adequate label information. Label information should include all of the following:

    • Full title of the work

    • Media used

    • Framed size - all work must be framed or gallery wrapped or it will not be hung in the show.

    • Price

b) Pay the entry fee of $20. Click here to pay online. Only one fee needs to be paid whether you submit one, two or three works.

c) Artists may bring binwork to sell. Download the form here. It is a Word Doc so you may type your info right into it. Don’t forget to hit save when you complete the form: Type in your Name, Name of artwork (title), the Price and enter the word “binwork” in the 4th column. We will accept up to five entries. Attach and Return completed form to: newsletter@olneyartassociation.org. Make sure all binwork pieces have labels on the back with artist’s name, title, media. Without that label it will be difficult if not impossible to pay you if a binwork is sold.

June 30, 2023 - Last day to register for this years juried show.

July 10, 2023 - Bring accepted works to Brookside Gardens between 10 and 11AM.All work for the show must be framed or gallery wrapped and ready for hanging with D-ring hooks and wire. Works will not be accepted for hanging if they are not ready for hanging. If you have binworks make sure they are labeled and that you bring along the binwork form.


July 10, 2023 7-9 Member Critique Meeting with Lisa Denison, our juror for the Brookside show at The beachKraft Gallery on the 2nd floor at 18200 Georgia Ave, Olney, MD 20832. There is an elevator to the 2nd floor not far from The Olney Crab House. There are also stairs on either side of the building.

May 1 through May 30, Show at Hollingsworth Gallery, Patuxent Research Refuge, National Wildlife Visitor Center, 10901 Scarlet Tanager Loop, Laurel, MD 20708

Mon, May 8 , 2023, 7pm at Salem United Methodist Church Community Room, Member meeting speaker is Lisa Denison who will talk about her “dream”scapes. See more about Lisa by clicking here.

May 1 Drop off accepted works, framed with D-rings and wire, no sawtooth hangers. Time TBD

April 25 deadline to send images and label info to president@olneyartassociation.org. Send image named with last name first, first initial, title separated by underlines, for example, Smith_J_mygreatpicture. Also include LABEL information, name of artist, title of artwork, media of artwork, framed size of the artwork and price. Patuxent does not charge a commission. No fee for this exhibition.

Mon, March 13, 2023, 7pm at Salem United Methodist Church Community Room, speaker is Benjamin Dellario, noted watercolorist and gouache painter. He earned a bachelor's degree from Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA with emphasis on finance and art history.  He studied Art at the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia and attended several workshops with nationally known artists.  He has been a member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters since 2003. Fondly known as WSLP, one of the oldest active artist organizations in the Washington area, Bernard currently serves as President. He teaches painting classes through several venues, has won national awards and exhibits throughout the Maryland Eastern Shore and Washington, DC regions.
